Developer Infinity Ward has officially confirmed a highly requested quality-of-life update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. Starting from the game's launch, double XP tokens will only count down while players are actively engaged in matches, resolving a long-standing community frustration.
Double XP Mechanics and Token Carryover
- Tokens, which typically last between 15 minutes and 1 hour, will no longer waste active time in pre-game lobbies.
- Infinity Ward confirmed that players' existing accumulated tokens will carry over and be fully usable in Modern Warfare 4.
- The timer will freeze automatically during matchmaking, maximizing the value of each activated token.
Additional Quality-of-Life Adjustments
Alongside the XP overhaul, the developer confirmed the addition of a built-in toggle allowing players to disable custom character skins. When activated, other players' customized or non-realistic skins will be replaced by default military character models on the user's screen.Competitive Market Context
These feature rollouts come as publisher Activision prepares for one of its most competitive launch windows. Scheduled for release in fall 2026, Modern Warfare 4 will share the market attention with the highly anticipated launch of Grand Theft Auto 6, requiring aggressive fan-first features to maintain community engagement.Tags:#Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4#Infinity Ward#Activision#Double XP
