Microsoft Rolls Out Mythic Achievements for Xbox to Rival PlayStation's Platinum Trophies
Microsoft has begun rolling out its new 'Mythic Achievements' system for Xbox Insiders. Similar to PlayStation's Platinum Trophies, it rewards players who unlock all original achievements of a game, excluding DLCs.

Microsoft has officially commenced the rollout of its highly anticipated Mythic Achievements system for Xbox Insiders on both PC and console platforms, offering a direct counterpart to PlayStation's iconic Platinum Trophies.
How Mythic Achievements Work
- Mythic status is unlocked when all original achievements of a base game are completed.
- Achievements added post-launch via DLCs or updates are excluded from the requirement.
- The system works retroactively; players who completed games years ago will automatically receive these achievements, accompanied by a special 15-second notification celebrating the milestone.
UI Improvements & Progress Tracking
Upon full release to the wider Xbox community, player profiles will feature a dedicated Gaming Tab with the following additions:
- A new progress bar at the top of each game's list will display how close the player is to achieving Mythic status.
- An option to filter out add-on achievements, allowing players to focus strictly on original base game requirements.
- Post-launch achievements will be labeled with an "add-on" tag, keeping the chase for the Mythic milestone clear.
Timing and Xbox Division Restructuring
Teased in August by Xbox executive Asha Sharma, the rollout arrives alongside a challenging restructuring period at Microsoft's gaming division. Recent shifts include massive layoffs, consolidation of studios under Activision and Bethesda, and ongoing downsizing affecting teams like Undead Labs and raising questions about Ninja Theory's future.
